I'm doing a lot of viny ripping at the moment.

OK, hardware first, If you have a decent turntable, DON'T buy a USB turntable, they're overpriced and, tbh, not very good. I use one of these, it's very cheap for what it is and does an excellent job:
    Citronic AC-1USB Audio Interface

You just plug your leads from the turntable to one end, connect the earth lead, and the other end goes into a standard USB port on your PC. It has a switch choose between line and phono, for a deck you want the phono, then it activates it's pre-amp to bring it up to line level.

Software. Audacity Audacity® | Free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing. is about the best you can get, and better yet, it's freeware so you don't pay anything. Once you have it set up right, you just record straght to the PC. Once you've recorded the signal, you have a lot of post processing options. Most of the time I only use 2, click removal, which is brilliant (but unless clicks are really bad, use it as set, don't be tempted to set it higher as it will then take out sound you want and, for example, ruin percussion sounds) and noise reduction, which will take out any humm or mains signal interference that you might get.

Cleaning vinyl, there are lots of methids different people use. I just use a soft cloth and water, or a very dilute solution of washing up liquid. Distilled water (which you can get for next to nothing from any supermarket, they sell it for filling irons and things) is best, expecially if you live in a hard water area. There are a lot of commercial cleaning machines out there, at varying prices, from less than a hundred quid to thousands. Some of the cheap ones do have good reviews and I'm looking at getting one myself.
