German Economy

Hello, I''ve started some serious research on Germans economy ( starting from WW1 ) and the reasons it managed to develop in what it is today. The information I can get is very limited and biased ( hardworking people, but the fact they work less than most countries in EU kind of counters that ) and so on.. I'm really interested how capitalism managed to develop on such a high level in a country that has been devided for past few decades.

If anyone has any documentaries / books / articles or personal opinion to share with me, I'd be greatful.
