    This is just a little information about Turkish web. In Turkey you can't reach over 2000 websites if you don't use some proxy tricks. Some of this sites about porn, but some of them really interesting. Such as;

    youtube.com (it's banned nearly 2 years)

    myspace.com

    last.fm

    akıllı.tv (turkish video sharing website)

    megaupload.com

    ateizm.com (a website about ateism)

    richarddawkins.net (an international famous biolog)

and many mores in this list... i just wonder to what do you think about this situation...

Turkey is an Islamic country, and religion influences its policy a lot... And yet, Turkish anarcho-punk movement is really small and weak... I hope it will change in the future, and there will be some positive changes (especially if Turkey wants to join EU...). There are first small steps though - in a week, there is 2 days festival (called Resistance Fest, if I remeber well) in Istanbul, headling by Oi Polloi... It is because of G20 meeting, to support the protests, and encourage local punk movement...

Thanx for this great comment! I do also not wish Turkey to ever join the bloody EU. I know about some movements (in cooporation with the anti-NATO movement) which call for the annulment of the EU. This sounds all a bit fictional maybe but nevertheless especially young people should be focused on such a goal in Europe.

Quoting a part of the No to NATO campaign text http://tlaxcala.es/detail_campagne.asp? ... campagne=9:
The EU has been extended in the direction of East and Southest Europe in step with the expansion of NATO. Europe has been split once again by new EU external borders. The EU has been turned into an instrument of a new confrontation with Russia and Belarus. The USA / NATO doctrine of preventive warfare has been taken over within the EU framework. EU "rapid intervention forces" are being built up, in order to intervene militarily anywhere in the world, in coordination with NATO, using the pretext of "humanitarian missions", the "struggle against terrorism", or "crisis management". With the aim of political conquest, control of markets, and the plundering of other countries' natural resources, the collaboration among the EU, the USA, and NATO is being significantly intensified. The EU requires its members to continue their buildup of armaments and militarization. Marching in step with the USA and NATO, and with the mechanisms of the EU, the European governments are pushing through measures in order to restrict democratic rights, eliminate achievements in social welfare, and to expand repressive structures against social movements.

In view of the character of the EU as an imperialist union of European governments, there can be no talk of the EU becoming independent and of freeing itself from the tutelage of the imperialist superpower -- in spite of occasional strong-arm tactics.

Nevertheless, the EU's internal contradictions; the competition of all imperialist powers against each other; setbacks for EU policies; the French, Dutch, and Irish positions of "No to NATO"; objections and disobedience to EU decrees -- all of these factors open up opportunities for the development of new forms of cooperation among the countries of Europe and the former Soviet Union, as well as the Mediterranean, the Arab world, and other continents. Only if the junior partners of the USA and NATO also resist the imperialist EU alliance, and the assumed "European" legitimacy is withdrawn, will the antimilitary struggle against NATO come to full fruition.

Turkey is NOT an Islamic country. Turkey has a secular constitution and actually people whose rights are oppressed in Turkey besides other "groups" ( like The Kurdish people) are in fact Muslims!
There has been taken a serious step towards a solution of the so called "Kurdish problem" in Turkey. The government seeks for dialogues with the Kurdish part to solve the "problem" ( this conflict has been actually created by the imperial powers in the region - [in-]directly linked to the zionist final plan in the region-to obtain power over the proportion of land in their "holy scripture"-and from there gain the power of the whole world-in the end being the absolute New World Order Sovereignity reigning the whole world) . There has NEVER been any problem between Kurdish and Turkish people, they consider themselves as one family and never had seperation plans, before...
There are two main factors in Turkey which try to hinder the stop of the war in our country, the right wing fascist party MHP and the "left" wing republican party CHP. They do anything they can that there are not going to start any negotiations between the government and the "Kurdish resistance".
As for the rights of Muslims which are oppressed. I am a veiled woman. I am not allowed to go to university with my dressing because it is considered as an act against the constitution in the eyes of the "kemalist, secular power". I am acting dangerous! A-hahahaha!!! I am considered as a risk for the existence of the state of power of the state in Turkey! And....I must say, as an "anarchist": I f**in love it to be considered as that!
I am (still) a student at Istanbul University. And I did go with my veil to university although it is strictly forbidden to do that. In the 90'ies girls were taken out of the buildings by force, breaking even their wrists or arms...
At the entry of each uni in Turkey you can see security forces at the door. You must show your ID and sometimes they look into your bag as well. Anyway, I did manage it to break the law and to break the rules, I just did went into the building with my veil.
I am the only girl who did this. The other girls are afraid to act like this because they fear to be kicked out of university. I got two discipline penalties. Nevermind, let's see what'll happen this year.

And as for the websites, youtube is banned due to a video about Atatürk (the former of the turkish republic). And I can enter all those other websites you've mentioned above from my pc.

And please: I am not a nationalist or pro-Turkish or whatever! I even do not like it to consider myself as "Turkish". I am an earthling. I just wanted to share with you some "facts" about the country I live in.
