Just had an argue with my dad-he is an social democrat, and im just in stage between socialism and anarchism and he just put in this question and,he totally shunted me up. And he also said that there were places where anarchists were in power, but it collapsed in a very short time.
Help!

Anarchism is the absence of systemic domination. It is synonomous with life. Danarchy made a really good post regarding this in another thread. Especially this line: "Personally I believe that we can not build an anarchist world/ society all we can do is create an anarchist community and autonomous zones whenever the opportunity provides. From those communities, zones more can be built until the system becomes irrelevant." The reason anarchistic zones have historically failed is because even if they are autonomous they are still surrounded and have to exist within the framework of the dominating forces of capitalistic civilized extractive resource economics. Everyone else is just gonna fuck with them. T.K. just wanted to live a free life outside the reaches of technological development and coercive power, but they won't let anybody do that. Why do you think he started his bombing campaign? Because development is always encroaching.

Well anarchism is a form of socialism and anarchists dont take power; they divide power equally, decentralized. There has not been an uprising strong enough yet to completely destroy capital, that is what us anarchists are working toward; Revolution and Insurrection in our struggle today.
If it had not been for these things, I might have lived out my life talking at street corners to scorning men. I might have died, unmarked, unknown, a failure. Now we are not a failure. This is our career and our triumph. Never in our full life could we hope to do such work for tolerance, for justice, for man's understanding of man as now we do by accident. Our words — our lives — our pains — nothing! The taking of our lives — lives of a good shoemaker and a poor fish-peddler — all! That last moment belongs to us — that agony is our triumph - Bartolomeo Vanzetti

no, anarchism is a type of stateless socialism.

No fucking shit you fucking idiot... don't even fucking talk to me if you have not read Industrial Society and It's Future. I understand the anti civ points of contention on this site, but there is really so much more there. The unabomber is one of the greatest minds of the 20th century. Judgemental idiota... You my friend don't know what you are talking about...

his spiritual successor.... jk but naw f'real, the dude was a genius, is a genius. He actually finally got published in 2010. A book called Technological Slavery, complied by David Skrbina, who has had a really good corrospondence with him. The book compiles the diffinitive version of"Industrial Society and its Future", other writings including unpublished essays, loads of corrosponding letters. I just got my library to order a copy. So happy for the dude that he finally got respectable publishing. Super excited to read it!

He's a smart dude for sure, but he's also certifiably insane and a lot of his beliefs are ridiculous loads of shit. There's NO excuse for hurting completely innocent people, so you can fuck off with that. Getting published doesn't give him any credibility, lots of idiots are published. Captain Caveman types are full of shit and hypocrties to boot. Get off the computer and go chew on a rock. Get super excited about that!

He is not certifiably insane, that is absurdly disrespectful. His defense without consulting him plead a insenity defence. He is many things, but insane is not one of them... I don't want to debate about it though. Point of contention. Do not conflate any piece of information or example with the messenger. Do not conflate the message with the messenger. He does not have "beliefs" he provides critique... idiot. Also he did not kill innocent people, although his tactics were far from perfect, he personally acted and held accountable individuals who were directly complicit to either media/technological/transportation developements... all important parts of the technological/civilized infrastructure. He personally held individuals accountable with his own actions. That is not insane. I could give a fuck if he was published as far as credibility goes, all I ment is that it is good that he is FINALLY published including so much corrospondence and unpublished material. You are a fucking idiot. I am not trying to argue with you. I am not even gonna address your last comment (well I am, use of technology does not equate to complicity, you fucking idiot, who the fuck put the internet into effect, the internet is war technology, as all complex technology is.) You are being incredibly ignorant, reactive and direspectfull... you fuckin newb. Do you even know anything about him or his critique??? You'd make an excuse for David Gelernter, the guy who wanted to make software files of all reality... just imagine how that would work with capital... and he only lost a hand... FUCK HIM!!!

You would really make an excuse for him???
That would fundamentally alter the human condition... In the favor of capital...

As I've said before, there is no "going back" in question.
