nice image, I think I'm gonna steal it, not for my wall though, that woman looks way too creepy.
But even creepier is what rimbaud said a couple of weeks ago in an interview:
"I didn’t want to just stop after Crass. It had all got too much, it felt as if the respect had gone with regards to the wider protest movement, it had all become a bit ridiculous. Fights between vegans and vegetarians; people accusing all policeman of being ‘pigs’. Well, sorry, but they’re just human beings who happen to be in the wrong uniform. I’ve always thought all of that as absurd. See the person first, meet them as a person, and arrive at a form of respect. A lot of the basic humanity had gone."
Wtf. Since when was a copper anything but... I wonder if his copper buddy raided his house, whether he'd just turn around and say, that's okay mate, you're just doing your job, have a beer on me.
I'm guessing he took a bit of a dislike to thatcher though, after he had a chat and tea with her, must have been the smelly butt thing that really killed the conversation.

that "creepy women" is emma goldman, a very influential women in the anarchist movement.
If it had not been for these things, I might have lived out my life talking at street corners to scorning men. I might have died, unmarked, unknown, a failure. Now we are not a failure. This is our career and our triumph. Never in our full life could we hope to do such work for tolerance, for justice, for man's understanding of man as now we do by accident. Our words — our lives — our pains — nothing! The taking of our lives — lives of a good shoemaker and a poor fish-peddler — all! That last moment belongs to us — that agony is our triumph - Bartolomeo Vanzetti

Crass is shit, their music while inspiring a mass of punk and anarcho-punk bands was still liberal art crap. Bands like Oi Polloi on the other hand still tour and walk their talk. I just saw them in Kamloops BC in a fucking basement with 30 other people for $10 or pay what you can. Before the show I talked to Deek and the promoter. The western Canada tour cost about $8000 USD with flights, van and gear rental they figured that by the end of the tour they would be out $2000. Being DIY is very important but I don't believe for a minute that it means I am entitled to their music without repaying them in some way. I have been listening to thier music for over 20 years, they (and others) have inspired me to try to create a better world through community building. I owe them. I bought 3 shirts at the show, one for myself to remember the event and one for each of my kids. The shirts were $15 and I had $50 so I told them to keep the $5 and give the next person short a few bucks a shirt. I am not trying to be noble but that is also what DIY is about, paying what you can and helping each other out. I know that others didn't even pay for the show even though they could. Crass on the other hand, I think i'll buy an album just to wipe my ass with it and post the picture on their facebook page Fuck it, i'll just print their shitty logo and use it instead.

Bands lucky to cover travel costs. Last (and only) time I played without losing money was in 1982. Played with Oi Polloi in Dundee few years back. This was at short notice, they were touring Europe at the time. Vegan benefit. They flew back for the gig, which came out their own pockets, I believe.

advocating murder is pretty creepy in my books.
Yeah, agreed about Oi Polloi, decent down to earth guys. They carry with them the spirit of punk in their actions and music. (unlike that bunch of old opportunist hippies, and their pretentious text book shit).

So this is what Mr Ratter had to say about Pete living is his half million quid estate in Essex: "He lived in my house for seven years, rent free". He says later that he thinks hes an anarchist, well, maybe he does, but that don't exactly make it pukka, cos it's obvious to the rest of the universe that he's just a twat. Rimbaud also seems to think that Pete made no contribution to Crass, while he contributed 65%, which is odd, because we all know that Steve wrote the early songs anyway, and wanker ratter didn't really write anything til the "Yes Sir I'm, Crap / Shite Album" period. Well, there's the love poetry, I guess, but there's even lower life forms on Saturn that know that's total shite. He was 35 when 17 year old Steve turned up at the Dial, sorry, his house, wanting to form a band. Guess he was an impressionable kid, and not too bright, they didn't call him ignorant for nothing. So anyway, I'm not gonna go to hard on Steve, art school wanker just used him for a bit of working class anarcho credibility. His next project, Wilfred Owen recitals. Wonder how much he gonna milk that one for? Seems they raised quite a bit selling shit on ebay, the artwork from 'Best Before' was up there for 20,000 quid, but probably the strangest thing I've read so far is that Rimbaud's birthday is the same day as mine. What the fuck is that about?

Meanwhile...from Colin Jerwood CONFLICT IN ENGLAND REBELLION FESTIVAL FRIDAY AUGUST 3 OLYMPIA 1 10PM
Please accept my apologies as I have not had time to respond to everyone personally regarding the above Conflict appearance. Conflict guest list and passes have all been allocated now; we are not receiving a further allocation and therefore can not assist anyone to gain admission. I still have sometime available on the Friday (between 5 – 7pm) to undertake more interviews and will also be available most of Saturday daytime, please contact me here or at the venue to organize this. There will be some Conflict merchandise available but stock is very limited, it is not our intention to profit from this appearance. I apologize for the blunt response regarding autographs and signing items; I simply don’t see any point or wish to take part in this. This is not because I believe I am better than other people or unapproachable as has been suggested, it is in fact totally the opposite. Come up and chat, shake hands, hugs, kisses, take photos, whatever, whenever. No one is special.
quite the contrast?

I see user comments on their facebook page and I wonder how those guys call themselves anarchists, I thought that anarchopunk was all about criticizing even your so called fucking idols and not tolerate their shit.
Don't feed them more otherwise you will catch up the stupidity.

I've been pointed to this website and this topic by a friend. First up thanks for the mention by somebody........although I'm not in prison now, I'm still on license etc but I got out at the end of last year after 12 months inside. I don't have too much to say on the matter except that Active Slaughter fully support the free distribution of music on the internet, always have always will.
As for "CRASS" getting their songs pulled down, well to be honest it's not "CRASS" really is it. Its just ex members of a band that was called CRASS - how many years has it been since they quit? It's really shit what they've done, although I'm sure they didn't expect the hosting site to pull the plug on anarcho-punk.net's entire collection of music from tons of other bands, although I'm not sure that they would care about that? who knows? I'm not surprised about all this to be honest. Things change, unfortunately many people change, although many of us stay the same thankfully, people should try not worship bands so much, especially when they've been dead for so many years. I just see them as bands, nothing more, It's what people do outside of the music scene what I really appreciate and there's many people out there I have massive respect for. Having said that, I do think people should know about all this so they can then make their own decisions on the matter, so thanks for posting this topic up. Respect Crass and the bands from many years ago for what they did back in the day and the music but leave them in the past, it's why I never went to that steve ignorant does crass songs tour thing
JJ (ex member of a band that was called Active Slaughter)
