Punk Rock "Gangs"

I believe gangs are an effect of Capitalism and Racism. Most Gangs are poor and have poor members who live in impoverished neighborhoods and commit "crime" because they don't have enough money to eat and take care of their famlies and to keep up with their bills. They resort to crime, and this destroys the working class people of the slums by giving the pigs an excuse to beat up poor people; they especially go after poor African-Americans and Latinos and Asians. Gangs flourish in impoverished neighborhoods and have poor members with troubled lives. Gangs fight other Working Class people and wreck the poor community, instead of uniting the poor community and fighting the Capitalist system.

i agree, gangs are symptoms of capitalisms tendency to marginalize and outsource "expendable" people, so every gang consists of unemployed, uneducated and unemployed people. but they were a reaction on organised racism in their beginnings and they aren't dump, those gangers, so they follow the economical trend to find their own niche of the market - and if we call that "criminal" we should not forget that state and economy are crimes too and they do their best to categorize those questioning "order" as "criminals", just to have a cheap excuse for swamping up the ghettos.
drug pushing and inter-gang violence are serious problems, but on the other hand the militance of the gangs against the police became quite handy in urprisings like the watts rebellion, where the gangs united with the people and kept out the cops for 4 days liberating their occupied home range - so it's not impossible that gangers get wise, give up the bizz too and take sides against the real criminals.
i don't think the state personified by the cops raiders really need an excuse to abuse the weak just to show the people what happens if you fall out of the line - but how healthy it is to accept the rat race keeping good citizens running for the top.
racism in public service is good for a career, prejudice prevents thinking twice and makes things a lot easier:

some use initiation ordeals with notable savagery and brutality, humilate, rape, trashing applicants into submission and loyality, while giving the members again and again a warning what might happen, if somebody decides to leave and binding the actual accomplice by forcing them to participate in the initiation.
the hierarchical pecking order is again comparable with that of the state - power and control need a habitat, not surprising and an easy lesson to learn in the labyrinth of tactical alliances, deception and counter-deception or colaboration/making deals with the cops - thats what pisses me off the most - and it's even more likely the gangers do the brumaire for making profit, than it is to get wise, give up the biz and join the people.
gang war about zones of influence can be like a vendetta in calabria in the old days, uninvolved families of the clans are targets for terror attacks and massacres, bystanders and collateral victims too, just to make a point or parade the potential of one group before the eyes of the enemy without attacking directly. too bad if you're at the wrong place at the wrong time just waiting for the bus - and Lizzie will have to wait for you forever...
punk gangs distract and interrupt scenes, somewhere on the forum is a thread about the FSU, a bunch of creeps turning business up to the point of attacking bands and musicians refusing "management" and "organisation" - sorry, Nike Mihailowna, but berlins is only the first circle of what we really don't need.

joining a gang means getting protection and support and a alternative to unemployment - but for a price:
defending your fellow accomplices no matter what they do, terrorizing, maybe killing people who never have done anything to you, you may not even know their names - last but not least, joining a gang is no good example of breaking the grip of state and economy on everyone's being/living.

So I was checking out different episodes of the history channel's gangland series, and I came across an episode about some "Punk Rock Gang" called F.S.U the episode is called "Friends stand united". Well I guess these guys keep the drug dealers out of the scene, keep nazi's away, and just pretty much any one they don't like. I think it's cool they keep any drug dealers away from the kids. Your scum if your at a show trying to get teenagers or even young adults interested in drugs at an all ages show. So F.S.U gets a thumbs up from me especially personally I stuggled with a heroine addiction for many years, and looking back I wish there was something like F.S.U around to beat up the dude that got me turned on to that shit, plus beat my ass for not thinking for myself and giving into peer pressure at that time. The thing about them keeping Nazi's or rednecks away from show or the scene is pretty fucked up to me though. And let me tell you why! Well I guess one night during a "Hardcore Punk" show this young adult dude about twenty something walks into the venue wearing a confederate flag shirt. Immediately two F.S.U members saw the young mans shirt and they we're offended, so they gathered more of their F.S.U comrads..which....god damn... it seemed to about half the show. Well all the F.S.U members at the show stomped and then afterwards they dragged dude outside into the street and proceeded to beat him to death. I thought to myself how fucked up this was for that poor dude. He was probably curious about the music and what the hardcore show was all about, and I'm sure he wanted to go check out the scene and see if he likes what shows are about....I mean for fuck sakes this America you should be able to go where you want. I think personally F.S.U members would have done more good by being friendly to the guy and by helping introducing him to the scene. Plus you never know, the so called "Nazi redneck in the bars and stars" could have become one of them later or became more interested in hardcore punk scene instead of being part of nazi skinhead crap. But what I thought was the saddest part of all.... I don't think the dude was even racist..Think about it, would a real bonehead go to a hardcore punk show wearing racist shirts? And would he go by himself? Hell fucking no! Atleast thats not how it is in California. Boneheads think twice about going to Punk shows unless they are rolling deep in numbers. Trust me when I say "rolling deep numbers" I mean atleast twenty to thirty heads armed with crude weapons.And for nazi's going solo,most nazi's pretty much know to stay away from punk shows if they are solo. I have twenty years experiance dealing with those bastards to know. Well technically eleven years because I started going to shows when I sixteen. Ha can you imagine? It would be like my punk rock ass going to a Volksfront concert by myself wearing a Aus Rotten "Fuck Nazi Sympathy" shirt. I would probably get stomped right out right infront of the main door.But like I said, its sad when I think about it. THe dude was probably just a loner type guy that happen to be interested in the music and to like civil war history..LOL. The guy died from a blow to the skull with brass knuckles to the temple. Alot of brass knuckle blows can be a fatal fuck you. So to me F.S.U just appears to be a bunch of goons with brass knuckles and other weapons that just want to beat up people for fun. It's sad that they use Punk Rock and Hardcore as their outlet and engine to hurt innocent people. I think they are just as bad as the boneheads. And why the fuck do they have to jump people with over kill numbers? I would like to see F.S.U go to an underground Nazi concert and fight everyone there. That would prove they are down for smashing fascist. But for now they are just a bunch of fascist to me. They do the same thing Nazi's do, they hurt people if you don't believe the same Ideology as them. They even kill people if wear the wrong shirts. Fuck them! Shitty part for our scene is, the history channel says they have chapters in every major city now in the U.S even know I haven't myself ran into any of them. Well with that said I think of this now for myself. Pfft great! So now I have to worry about getting jumped in the venue because that day I forgot to change out of my Robert E. Lee shirt or forgot to change out of my Panzer tank shirt.....my beloved shirts I purchased from the history channel web store... And then after the show I get jumped by War Skins becuase because my leather has a crossed out swasika pin. F.S.U in show, Nazi's in the dark alleys. What has the scene become? haha Carry guns for now on, and remenber safety in numbers. By the way I hate Fascist, so I pretty much hate anybody with the same Ideology as the nazi party. And I know you guys are thinking but your name has Adolf and 88 in it. Well yeah it does, but so fucking what. I'll explain this dumb nick name to friends only when I got time to tell the story. Tell me what you guys think about F.S.U, boneheads, and whats been going on at shows.Post back fuckers!

I also ran into a group of "77's" at a show about 3 years or so ago. They seemed to glare and shun my group of friends who were trying to be social and joke around with them (we're a mixed bunch of white, hispanic and mulatto). I should have seen their prejudice all those years ago....but on the bright side i havnt seen those motherfuckers at any punk or thrash show in chi town in years!

not really a "gang" but i've been trying to put together a loose confederation of like-minded people called A.L.E.C.S. for "Anarchist Liberation through the Eradication of Capitalist Society" that just basically exists to provide mutual support and aid between us. kind of a "united, never divided" mentality.
