There are at least four bands with the name Diatribe: 1) Diatribe is a San Diego California hardcore punk band formed in late '84,one of the first political bands in the states, their style is similar to that of Discharge, Crucifix, Broken Bones, Iconoclast, English Dogs..etc they recorded The Aftermath EP (tape) in '85 which was also bootlegged in '92 on Revoltation records as a 7"EP and has since then been released in '07 by Get Revenge Records as a 7'' EP.The band is working on new material and has shows set up for 2010.

Bad-ass! You guys didn't disappoint. I was happy (if you can call it "happy", I can't really think of a better word right now) to hear the bit about Brisenia Flores in there. I think when you talk about specific cases like that, you put a human face on the whole issue and it helps drive the point home.

No but apparently they are Diatribe enthusiasts...how many slots are left to fill? Also Ungov we would like to use the track "The Deluge" instead of what I already sent you...

Pretty decent review of the Diatribe/Death Crisis split from Sorry State Records:
As on their killer previous 7", San Diego's Death Crisis pick up right where their old band Life Crisis left off with some killer, slightly metallic HC that sounds like Pushead would have been really into it if it came out in the 80s... in fact, it reminds me a little bit of Pushead's own band Septic Death, and that's a comparison you don't see too often. As for Diatribe, they are a legendary d-beat band that had an obscure demo 20 years ago that strongly influenced bands like Disclose. A lot of old d-beat bands that have re-formed don't really seem to get it anymore, but Diatribe definitely do! Their 3 songs are noisy bursts of pure, Discharge-influenced crust. While not quite as epic as their long-lost demo, they still wave the Dis-banner proudly.

I actually played the "Aftermath" Ep today. Top notch US anarchopunk up there with Crucifix, Iconoclast and Final Conflict. I was also pleasantly surprised with how good the new record is. This is really good. I even played "Veneno politico" on the radio (Radio Libertaire).
Hey crustybeckham you made my day! I was actually driving home from a hard day's work thinking how much better the new album is going to be and thinking that the split 7" was a bit rushed, we had only been back together 2 months when we recorded it, but your comment fills my heart with love for what we have...thank you!

Well, I will be definitely looking forward to the Lp then!

It does sound good. "Screams of consciousness" reminds me of Excrement of War with the riff and the drumming pattern, which is in no way a bad thing (quite the contrary). "It's not a question of" is more modern-sounding, not too far from early Against//Empire maybe. I like it. You may have already said so earlier, but is the record supposed to be out?
No, we're only about half way done with it, it started out to just be another 7" then we kept coming up with new ideas so we decided to keep writing and go for a full length. We have about another 4 songs to record entirely, I'm gonna shoot for end of Summer/ beginning of Fall for it to actually come out on vinyl, good thing is this time there is interest from some good underground labels to help out. Really glad you liked the sound...
