-> CALLOUT FOR PROPOSALS (Workshops, Tables, Art Exhibits, Films, Festival of Anarchy Events): http://www.anarchistbookfair.ca/callout-for-proposals-2 <-

-> Participants from all over Quebec and North America, booksellers and vendors, workshops, films, discussions, kids activities, art exhibits and more!

-> NOTE: During this year’s Bookfair, tabling will take place over TWO DAYS: May 21-22, between 10am-5pm.
-----

The Montreal Anarchist Bookfair -- and month-long Festival of Anarchy -- bring together anarchist ideas and practice, through words, images, music, theatre and day-to-day struggles for justice, dignity and collective liberation.

The Bookfair is for people who don't necessarily consider themselves anarchists, but are curious about anarchism, as well as a space for anarchists to meet, network and share in a spirit of respect and solidarity. All are welcome.

The Bookfair is organized in a spirit of openness towards the different traditions, visions, and practices of anarchism. Together we share a commitment to promoting anarchism through the values of mutual aid, grassroots democracy, direct action, autonomy and solidarity, while opposing oppression in all its forms.

The Bookfair and Festival of Anarchy provide an important gathering and reference point for anti-authoritarian ideas and practice in North America.

I've had this marked down since the bookfair last year.
The past couple years, there's been some awesome shows that weekend too, so there's even more reasons to go.

I missed the cabaret, which, after I heard Jeunesse Apatride were playing, was really upset about. We had some car troubles, our friend who was driving had his car break down at around noon, so we didn't end up leaving town 'til 6pm, and got there at 2am. The rest of the weekend was awesome, picked up a bunch of books I'd been looking for, and got to see a bunch of people which I hadn't seen in a long time. Managed to get to the "secret" RVIVR show at Squalor last night too, which was a blast.

yeah Jeunesse Apatride was really awesome, i had not seen a show by them since a long time!! I missed their last show at Katacombes and i was really mad, they were playing with my friends from Les Gens D'armes... Too bad Jeunesse Apatride isnt active as it was before, all the members got kids so they dont make a lot of shows anymore..

Ah shitty. I haven't gotten a chance to see them yet, just heard the albums. They played a 2-day punk fest-type show in Hamilton in March, put on by Rebel Time Records, but I was really sick and couldn't make it.

Yeah i heard about this fest, but couldnt make it to ontario

You're missing something, Jeunesse Apatride is definatly the best anarcho-punk band to have ever existed in Quebec, and i'd even say in whole Canada.... It's definatly awesome live, i saw them dozens of time...

I really hope I can catch them soon. Quebec seems to be full of awesome bands, ie Preying Hands/Ballast, Subsistance, Jenuesse Apatride...

'cause a) we got into town about 2 hours after the show ended and b) I found out about it about 2 hours after the show ended.

I saw Jenuesse Apatride in March and they were by far one of the best semi-local bands that I've seen, especially with the molotov cocktail mascot suit. You're very lucky to be living in a city, or at least in the proximity, of so many awesome bands. We have a few good ones down in south Ontario but they still seem to be broken up by the exclusive groups of people in which they choose to associate with.

On another note, I don't know how frequently you come to Ontario or even where in Quebec you're located but if you ever find yourself in souther Ontario with no place to stay you're always more than welcome here. I live in London Ontario which sucks for everything, but I feel more comfortable putting the offer out any ways. :)

I'm really glad to see that the bookfair was so great! :D. Hopefully I'll go to a local one myself one day and it'll be as good as the one you guys went to. How many books did you get Hailey?.

Yeah Subsistance and Preying Hands are awesome !!!
Gerbia, Hold a Grudge, Inepsy, La Gachette and The Prowlers are also cool

Too bad there is sooo many great bands that are not active anymore :( Banlieue Rouge, Esclaves Salariés, The Ruffianz, Akuma, les Bons à Rien, Barricade Mentale, Corrigan Fest, Dockside Hookers, Impact, Locos, Ordures Ioniques, Peroxide, Street Troopers, The Uncivilized, etc...

Check out http://www.QuebecUnderground.net thats one of my other websites, we got over 1500 albums from quebecker bands available for free download, including a lot of exclusivities and very rare stuff!!

Well you got a couple of very good antifascist skinhead bands!! And the comrades from Common Cause organisations are cool guys

I went to Ontario only 1 time in my whole life :P but if i ever go back there i'll send you a message, thanks a lot for the offer! The same apply to you if you come in Quebec, but i live 1h30 away from montreal so it's not a big advantage :(
