Yeah that's some really blatant shit too.
FEMA started a much more subtle version of that last summer. Youth disaster preparedness type thing. Militarizing the youth to contain people during disasters pretty much.

Listen Harrison, comparing Golden Dawn fascist indoctrination, to American fascist rhetoric on the evils of FEMA is about as convoluted as you can get, I say this respectfully t'wards you because so far I have liked most of what you've had to say here...but please don't bring Alex Jones conspiracy paranoia nonsense around this forum, it is not only unwelcome but it is shunned as the subversive counter-revolutionary bullshit it is...

I know they're not really at all comparable, just saw something on FEMA recently on an open computer and it came to mind. Didn't realize its roots in Infowars though, and that it's right wing shit. I reckon I didn't do adequate research, sorry for it and thanks for calling out respectfully.
But yeah, back to GD, that shit's hella scary. I wonder if the adults in the background are those kids' parents or just GD party people (or maybe both).

Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn fresh Bid to Donate Blood to Greeks Only

A Greek journalist has been attacked by Golden Dawn members at a hospital in Tripoli, Peloponnese, after he filmed the group holding a voluntary blood donation to Greeks only.
The unnamed reporter said that neo-Nazi thugs intimated him to delete video footage recorded on his mobile phone, claiming that their faces should not be identified in the video, according to Greek reporter.
The far-right party announced on Friday that they would be donating blood only to people who can prove to be Greeks, sparking a heated reaction by the union representing state hospital workers in the country.
In a statement, the union appealed on staff to stop Golden Dawn members from turning blood donations to “celebration of national and racial purity” and slammed the neo-Nazi thugs for “fixation on such initiatives despite the outcry of society and professional bodies”.
A trade union affiliated to the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) held a protest against Golden Dawn, with banners that read “Golden Dawn is the bosses’ sidekick and the system protects them”.
In 2012, a drive by the far-right group to get Greeks to donate blood only to their fellow citizens caused a backlash by doctors, who deemed the initiative as racist and inhuman.
Golden Dawn appealed to volunteers to give blood “only for Greeks who need our help.”
“This would be inhuman. If someone needs blood, he or she should have every right to get it no matter who they are,” a health ministry official said.

Golden Dawn disrupts New York film event

    May 27, 2013

Four Golden Dawn members showed up at a documentary screening in New York and attempted to intervene in the post-film discussion using a megaphone but were ousted by the event organizers, shouting 'Commies, you will die!' on their way out.

Tensions rose during a Greek-American documentary screening in New York when Golden Dawn members attempted to intervene in the post-film discussion using a megaphone.

The incident occurred on Saturday at the Stathakion Cultural Centre in Astoria, during the screening of “Greek-American Radicals: The Untold Story”, a historical documentary about the journey of Greek-American radicalism.

The documentary presents a forgotten page of Greek immigrant experience in America: the role of immigrants in the radical labor movement in the US and the journey of the Greek-American left from the early 20th century until the anticommunist witchhunts of the McCarthy era.

Four young Golden Dawn members were among the audience at the packed theater and when the screening ended they attempted to intervene in the post-film discussion using a megaphone, sparking strong reaction from the event organizers.

The men were ousted from the event amid pushing and shoving, shouting “commies, you will die!” on their way out.

This is the fifth time in a year that members of the neo-nazi party have loudly made their presence known in New York.

Greece's people show the politicians how to fight Golden Dawn

Golden Dawn members carry out a Greeks-only food distribution outside their party HQ, after being prevented from holding it in Syntagma square, central Athens.

For many Greeks, Orthodox Easter is a chance to see friends and family, to eat good food or to worship. But for the neo-Nazis in Golden Dawn, who only recently made the switch from "Hellenic" paganism to a professed love for Christianity, it has been an opportunity for propaganda. Last Thursday, the party made headlines with its attempt to stage a "Greeks-only" food distribution in Athens's Syntagma square(http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/ma ... lly-athens). The next day, when Athenians were driving back to home towns and villages, Golden Dawn members held open motorway toll booths – which have become a symbolic point of resistance against the rising cost of living in the wake of austerity – so cars could pass for free(https://twitter.com/IrateGreek/status/3 ... 7101913089).

Such stunts have become common for a party that seeks to exploit anger at Greece's social crisis, along with the undercurrent of racism that has accompanied it. As one Golden Dawn voter in the Athens suburb of Petropolis put it to me when I visited Greece last month, she saw them as the only party who would make politicians take responsibility for their "lying and cheating" against the people. She's not alone: almost a year after the elections that saw Golden Dawn shoot from obscurity to the third-largest party in Greece's parliament, it maintains a steady 10-12% in the opinion polls.

What is new, however, is that in the case of Syntagma, the event was prevented from going ahead in the square. A truck carrying food intended for distribution was blocked from entering the square by riot police, who then used teargas – a treatment usually reserved for leftwing demonstrators – to disperse about 50 Golden Dawn members who had assembled for the handout. Later, a Golden Dawn MP, Giorgos Germenis, tried to punch the Athens mayor, Giorgos Kaminis, who had requested the police intervention, as he moved to shut down a Golden Dawn stall selling Orthodox Easter candles to children. Germenis also reportedly reached for a gun – something he has since denied doing(http://www.enetenglish.gr/?i=news.en.article&id=814).

If the incident revealed something of the true face of Golden Dawn – cheap populist tricks, backed up by violent threats – it stands in sharp contrast to the general pattern. Its members frequently stage "Greeks-only" food handouts and blood donation drives, and they are rarely challenged by the authorities, despite the blatant racism of such initiatives, in a country where violence against ethnic minorities is on the rise(http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/ap ... ise-greece).

This fits with a wider atmosphere of impunity. Klio Papapantoleon, a lawyer who has represented victims of assaults committed by Golden Dawn members, told me that the Greek justice system had been "unusually lenient" in judging them, while clients and witnesses had often been "obstructed and encumbered by police officers" when trying to pursue a complaint.

Encouraged by this treatment, Golden Dawn has been doing its best to sink roots into Greece's institutions, building networks of support inside the police force(http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/oc ... ice-claims), entering hospitals (http://greece.greekreporter.com/2013/04 ... -hospital/) and, perhaps most worryingly, trying to win teenage recruits by spreading its ideas in schools(http://icantrelaxingreece.wordpress.com ... -students/).

A recent Council of Europe report concluded that Golden Dawn's well-documented role in perpetrating racist violence meant it could be banned under existing laws(http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_ar ... 013_493932), yet for now the Greek government seems unable or unwilling to act, preferring to mimic its rhetoric: in February, 85 MPs from New Democracy, the largest party in the coalition, signed a motion that called for anybody not of the "Greek race" to be barred from joining the country's police and armed forces(http://www.enetenglish.gr/?i=news.en.article&id=112). This contrasts with a recent crackdown on leftwing groups, which has included raids on squats (http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_ar ... 012_475474), the closing of Athens Indymedia (http://globalvoicesonline.org/2013/04/1 ... indymedia/)and the ongoing terrorizing of villagers in the north of Greece opposed to a gold mining project(http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/the-gree ... -activists).

Yet while journalists understandably want to draw attention to the threat Golden Dawn poses, every piece of sensationalist media coverage reinforces the party's deliberately crafted image. The violence it inspires is real enough, but Golden Dawn is far from being in a position of power. Its activist base remains small; it can not mobilise supporters in large numbers; and its rallies often take place unannounced, so that anti-fascist activists do not have time to gather and chase its members off the streets. The food handouts, staged mainly for the benefit of the media, pale in comparison with the network of solidarity initiatives like the "potato movement" – markets that allow farmers to sell their produce directly to customers, at around 30% less than supermarket prices – or volunteer-run medical clinics, or free after-school tuition for children, that are helping Greek people cope with the impact of mass unemployment and falling salaries. By contrast, as a member of Solidarity4All, a national network that co-ordinates such initiatives, described it to me, Golden Dawn's handouts are a grim affair: "They buy the food, they make everyone listen to 30 minutes of political speeches, then they make everyone wait in line. There's no co-operation."

What's more, many Greeks are simply disgusted by the presence of fascists on their political scene. They are becoming increasingly vocal about this, in public displays of solidarity with immigrants, as they did in a anti-fascist protest in Athens on 19 January, backed up by demonstrations outside Greek embassies around the world(http://uaf.org.uk/2013/01/athens-opposes-golden-dawn/). Elsewhere, the expression has been more blunt: last month in Chania in Crete, angry residents threw the party's parliamentary candidate into the sea(http://icantrelaxingreece.wordpress.com ... of-chania/). International pressure has even forced the Greek government into making noises about tackling the problem, but it is at grassroots level where Golden Dawn is being opposed most effectively, and where it will ultimately be defeated(http://greece.greekreporter.com/2013/05 ... be-banned/).

One Golden Dawn member I interviewed last year, on condition of anonymity, put the party's appeal to me succinctly: "We do what others don't dare." This is posturing, and it can be broken. But it has to be broken now, before it's too late(http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/po ... ing-athens).

Two Golden Dawn members killed in drive-by shooting outside Athens office

    http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Gua ... aw-009.jpg

Crisis-plagued Greece was thrown into further turmoil on Friday after two members of the far-right Golden Dawn party were shot dead in what police called a "terrorist attack" outside one of the organisation's offices in Athens.

Two men, described as a 20 and 23-year-old, died instantly in the drive-by shooting, according to a statement released by the extremist group.

"Two helmeted terrorists on a motorbike stopped in front of Golden Dawn's offices in [the northern Athens suburb of] Neo Iraklio while the office was open and a lot of people were [gathered around] its entrance," said the party.

"The co-rider got off [the bike] and in cold blood executed two young men at a distance of about half a metre. Before leaving the terrorists fired again … they literally emptied their weapons [of bullets] on top of them."

A third Golden Dawn member, identified as a 29-year-old father of one, was fighting for his life in an Athens hospital after being severely injured in the hail of gunfire.

"His situation is very critical," the country's health minister Adonis Georgiadis told Skai TV.

Police said the attack, conducted with an MB5 machine gun, bore all the hallmarks of a well-organised terrorist operation although government officials insisted they were not ruling out any scenario.

Greece's public order minister Nikos Dendias issued a carefully-worded statement shortly after 8.30pm local time, approximately one hour after the attack. "I express my sorrow at the death of two young men," he said. "The law will prevail. The country will not be allowed to become a battle field for the settling of scores."

The attack comes almost two months after a leftwing hip-hop artist, Pavlos Fyssas, was fatally stabbed by a self-confessed member of Golden Dawn in a working class area of Athens. The murder set in motion a crackdown on the neo-Nazi party that has since seen its leader, Nikos Michaloliakos, and several of his leading cadres imprisoned on charges of using the virulently anti-immigrant organisation to operate a

a criminal gang that sowed wanton terror on the streets of Greece.

In an explosive political atmosphere already poisoned by the despair wrought by cuts demanded in return for rescue funds to prop up the country's debt-stricken economy, the crackdown has heightened tensions.

"Some are preparing to lead this country to civil war," said Panos Kammenos, leader of the rightwing Independent Greeks party, reacting to the killings. "Clearly there are those who want to destabilise this country politically," he added suggesting that "foreign centres" were among the dark forces working against Greece.

The cold-blooded murders were quick to send a chill through Athens' entire political establishment. Insiders said it had sent tremors through the fragile coalition government with many describing the mood in Prime Minister Antonis Samaras' office as being "numb" with shock.

"The murderers, whoever they are, will be treated mercilessly," said Simos Kedigoglou, a government spokesman, emerging from a crisis meeting called by Samaras.

Across the board there were fears of the backlash the murders could unleash.

"It's a very dangerous development that could lead to a vicious cycle of blood being shed in a country that is already being torn apart," said Andreas Papadopoulos, spokesman of the small Democratic Left party, which withdrew from the tripartite government in disgust over its economic policies in the summer.

Analysts worried on Friday that Golden Dawn, which has accused the political establishment of waging a war to destroy it, will use the tragedy to once again boost its ratings in the polls. "My fear is that Golden Dawn will exploit this to make the point that it too is being persecuted, that it's own members are being cold-bloodedly murdered," said the political commentator Dimitris Tsiodras.

Catapulted into parliament for the first time in June 2012, the neo-fascist party remains the country's third biggest political force, although its support has plummeted since the 18 September murder of Fyssas. Last week, the Greek parliament voted to cut off funding for the party as the campaign intensified to marginalize it.
