Veganism

Animal Liberation - Veganism - Anarchism

Postby Powered By Lentills on 29/01/2012, 17:00

“Our economic order is tightly woven around the exploitation of animals, and while it may seem easy to dismiss concern about animals as the soft-headed mental masturbation of people who really don't understand oppression and the depths of actual human misery, I hope to get you to think differently about suffering and pain, to convince you that animals matter, and to argue that anyone serious about ending domination and hierarchy needs to think critically about bringing animals into consideration.”

I'm also a veganarchist, and yes it can be tough but if you look online or hunt through some recipe books and things some great recipes and meal ideas are mentioned :D I've got a few recipe books and things so if you're looking for specific meals and stuff then i'll be more than happy to have a look through and then tell you!
Rice, pasta, bread and couscous and are good for the energy and as said earlier fruit and veg aren't always expensive..
peanut butter is good for protien and not that expensive either.. but then again, i'm a bit obsessed with peanut butter so i probably would say that, eh?
Well done for keeping strong with this whole vegan diet.. and good luck for the rest of the journey..

As Dead Kennedy's put it "Soup Is Good Food" You can make a big batch of soup from fresh veg, lentils and spices blend it all up with a hand blender ( i replaced mine a while ago for a Fiver) and freeze portions and put the rest in the fridge and it keeps well. I dont follow recipes but they always turn out Nice and nutritious. Really Cheap and healthy and it doesnt really matter what you bung in its tasty as hell! Roastin Butternut Squash or Sweet Potatoes is Particularly nice! How Fuckin Punk Rock is That!!!!!! Veganism is the biggest up yours to the system!!! :good:

Ah, yeah, hand blender, they are great. Like you say, soup. So easy. I just throw a ton of stuff in a big pot, let it simmer. If I want it smooth, just get out the hand blender. Top it up next day, reheat... lasts ages. Home made chilli sauce, just bunch of chillis, couple apples, onions, cucumber, all chopped in a pot, cover with vinegar and add sugar, heat til boils, stick in the hand blender. There are a ton of varients on this, you can add tomatoes, mushroom, herbs, spices... and Indian, can't beat it, and so many varients, I just love anything with coconut in it. Vegan is ok, except, I crave eggs. I even dream about them, this been going on for years. My body needs somethings that's in eggs. Hard to know exactly what though, since eggs have got just about everything in them.

She is the one who is behaving dumb with a remark like that, and completely missing the point ofveganism,if you agree, you must be at the same level of ignorance. Animal Liberation is Human liberation and is the only way to remove exploitation from this world and free us ALL from the chains of dominance and opression that are the greed driven manipulative scripts of a captilalist society. Therefore it is her that is creating the problem.

It's comedy... it was meant for a laugh.

Lighten up, comrade. I'm vegan. Going on 4 years now.

Don't be so quick to blame the problems of the world on animal exploitation. Capital is the driving issue here; the accumulation of wealth is what allows for such widespread animal, and human, exploitation.

I love a good comedian and incidentily just got back from seeing Stuart Lee last night when i wrote that.

The problem with her sketch is that she is just re-enforcing the negativity that you hear day in day out from the masses who are so conditioned that a quick funny quip is all they need to re-assure them that their diet is ok and veganism is just some flawed exstremism and nothing to take seriously. But i take your point, i did have a slight suspicion you were posting it just for laughs but i was way too tired to investigate as i had been up 21 hours and and my head felt like it was ready to explode off my shoulders and just needed my bed. Sorry :s

Yes, you are completely right, Capitol is the driving issue, and animal expliotation is only a part of a larger set of problems of greed and dominance. But it is a very important part all the same, as it is the key to a consistent set of principles, and without complete respect for all, any movement forward is flawed and doomed to failure from the start and the cycle of hatred and greed will be perpetuated, just like in Orwells Animal Farm.

But as it stands i see i am preaching to the converted, i just had you down as one of the many zombies who post up something along those lines on various sites as they are unable to debate themselves and get a kick out of ridiculing someting they are too stupid or indoctrined to understand. ooopps, how wrong i was.

I have not eaten meat for over 20 years but i never understood the saying Animal Liberation is Human Liberation until i became complete vegan and really started to read into subjects a lot more deeply.

Well, here's to a better tomorrow comrade........................still have a bastard behind the eyes!!

So anyway, I still craving the eggs, and it just so happens that a member of our 'commune' is thinking of getting some chickens, well, sorta chickens, strange looking things, I must say. Not to eat of course, just cos they are cute, plus, they eat ticks, apparently, and hopefully them beetles that destroy our potato plants, so I was thinking, I mean if they gonna lay eggs that are infertile and will just rot anyway, well, maybe I could eat a few, but the rest say 'no way', and I bet you guys all will too, bastards.

Re: Veganism

Postby AgentOrange on 12/03/2012, 02:23

funny thing is: it`s completely up to you.

myself, i`m a vegan for half a year now (except honey for medical purpose only...)
but before i would be diagnosed a lack of B12 (witch is not vegan-exclusive thematic - hell, not even vegetarian-exclusive!) i would drink milk, if i personally know the cow and thus KNOW that she is living WITH humans - not FOR them. it`s possible to live in symbiosis with animals, and if that`s the case and I KNOW the cow/the chicken is healthy&happy, it would be okay for me to eat what they produce, for they get something back too (love, shelter, food, security...).
at least if it`s unprocessed, cause i don`t like processed animal-products anymore (some stupid logic that if you need to heat it to consume it, it`s kinda unnatural, hehe...), witch goes pretty much for cheese, eggs, meat ofc (no discussion here...), ...well, maybe for everything except a fresh glass of milk...
but i`m not sure if I will happen to run across such a harmonic place in the next year, so until then, vegan is my way.

but I`m running off the track...

point is, if your friends depend on your diet, something is wrong.

and points like this:
Do you really want to eat a chickens period? Yuck!

I hate them. above all, it`s fucking disrespectful towards the animals. anyway, not meant to offent, just my personal opinion.

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

How is it disrespectful toward an animal? If i was to say do you really want to eat a humans fecel matter? yuck! is that disrespectful to a human if thats what i think?

please help me understand the piont your making? and i will respond in kind, as i understand it the menstrual cycle is for the purpose of reproduction right? are we not allowed to mention what something is? not getting your point. If i think eating flesh and blood is a disgusting idea, is that " fucking disrepectful towards the animals" ?

Its not a phrase that i use often unless asked specifcly.

Not offended, just dont get it? if im missing something, im happy to have a think about your point and if it makes sense, change my stance.

Kind Regards x

Postby AgentOrange on 13/03/2012, 02:17

well, while a mammals "period" really is waste, that of a bird (specifically chicken) is not. not only, that other animals will eat the eggs if they can, but the chickens themselves will close the circle of energy if the egg is infertile, by, too, eating their own eggs.

your comparison to human shit lacks sense, because you compare a healthy, useful product with literally waste, that can only be consumed by microorganisms, beetles and such, not by mammals, humans, chickens.

what I don`t like is this attitude many vegans have towards animal products, that they are "ugly", "disgusting" and stuff. hell, i don`t like the smell of eggs and meat and cheese anymore, myself, but i don`t use it as a point to support my veganism. there are tons of good, valid points to go vegan, and most times, i see only this "bääh!" "ugly" ones.
what IS ugly about (most) meat, eggs, milk, cheese and whatnot is this: slaughterhouses; industrial production and killing; exploitation; seeing the animals just as products, not as living beings; industrialized marketing; all that corporate shit that goes with it; torture;... you can go on for yourself, i guess...

consuming what is there is part of the natural circle of energy, like, it`s as natural for a lion to catch and eat antelopes, as it is for microorganisms to consume shit, as it it for cows to eat grass, as it is for monkeys to be omnivores...
the difference with humans is that we`ve got the CHOICE to say "no, i don`t want to integrate animal products into my diet, because...". we think about it. animals don`t think about it. if all animals would think about it, the natural process of production, consumption and destruction of biomass would, pretty sure, collapse :P

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

Re: Veganism

I agree with a lot you have said however im still not getting how it is disrespectful to animals to find it disgusting to eat a chickens period. Yes the fecal matter was a poor analogy in as much as an egg has nutritional benifit along with a weight of cultural significance as a food stuff that fecal matter clearly does not. However, the end result is the same, me not wanting to eat what another being has produced, but with no ill will toward the animal that has produced it.

I agree that the stronger arguments for veganism are with the out right rejectiion of animals as a commodity and the raisng objection to the greed , exploitation and suffering that happens in order to get the product on the plate. Along with enviromental concerns, world hunger, and liberation for us all by the notion of equality without exception.Clearly there is massive room to ramble here and reading between the lines we probably agree with one another more than we disagree, so there is no need (or time) to go in depth about it.

Having not eatien animals for decades and as a vegan being very aware of just how the animls are imprisoned, abused and then slaughered before being carved up on a plate, i do find this Disgusting. Further more that whole process along with the relationship of marketing, consumers cognition and government is very ugly indeed. The eating and using of any animal is anathema to me and i see no distincion between the flesh of a human to that of a calf. Flesh is flesh, life is life.

Of course i could'nt go into the stronger arguments for veganism with Ivanovich as the circumstances were different and as we were clearly having a bit of banter did not feel the need to be too serious. As you can see in my other posts i use the better arguments to support veganism as a rule.

I can see that you are all trying your best for a better world and to alleviate suffering, as i am. Hovever a Vegan does not use or consume any animal or diary product and if you do you're not a vegan but a vegetarian, all be it a vegetarian that is inflicting less cruelty by omiting processed dairy or whatever from their diet or by ensuring the animals you use are cared for. Of course this is down to the individuals choice at the end of the day and im not raising myself above anyone else or trying to get you hackles up. Thats just as i see it, same as people claiming to be vegetarians that eat fish, they're not.

I am almost dreading the response to that as i can see im chating to some clever sorts and not falling into that catagory easily myself i fear a backlash. its all good healthy debate tho and i dont wish any offence :S

No authority but yourself

much love

I've been vegeterian for 3 years, and I often participate in 'Green Monday' which means i'm vegan on mondays. Now, I have a question for all animal lovers and supporters. My pet died in hers 6th year of life. Before 2 weeks my mother bought 2 chincillas from pet shop. I was wondering what's your opinion on buying animals from pet shop ? I'm mainly against it because it supports animal production and prision, but again i have this idea that they will have better life with me then with them ( some may say that it's the same as 'animals are already dead, so why don't you eat their meat then')

Cheers !
