The most famous (and infamous) band of the late 70s British punk scene. Their rebellious image combined with a commercial sound (partly thanks to producer Chris Thomas) created some of the most memorable moments of the 70s - both musical and otherwise. Line-up: Johnny Rotten (John Lydon, b. January 31, 1956 - vocals), Steve Jones (b. September 3, 1955 - guitar), Glen Matlock (b. August 27, 1956 - bass) and Paul Cook (b. July 20, 1956 - drums). In February 1977, Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious (John Ritchie aka John Beverley, b. May 10, 1957). The band effectively split up after their 1978 US tour, although Jones and Cook continued to record under the name for another year or so.

The original line-up reformed in 1996 for a series of concert tours, and has played live shows off and on since then, and released live recordings.

For copyrights to the band, see [l=Sex Pistols].

Band members: John Lydon, Steve Jones (2), Paul Cook, Glen Matlock
    Band ex-members: , John Beverley

    -Steven McMorran

Satellite is a Polish band formed in 2000 ,led by drummer, composer, and lyricist Wojtek Szadkowski and featuring most if not all of the members of another well-known outfit from that country, Collage, Wojtek included. So at least in some ways, Satellite can be considered Collage's reincarnation, especially since Wojtek was a primary mastermind behind that band too.

    Band members:

    Robert Amirian (vocals)
    Sarhan Kubeisi (guitars)
    Przemek Zawadski (bass)
    Krzysiek Palczewski (keyboards)
    Wojtek Szadkowski (drums; acoustic guitar)

Satellite's two albums, "A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset" (2003) & "Evening Games" (2005), were unanimously acclaimed sensational and got enthusiastic reception worldwide (front cover story in Colossus Magazine, reviews and interviews in Rock Hard, Eclipsed, iO Pages, Dutch Progressive Rock Page, and many, many more!). Their third release, album "Into The Night", proved that the band well deserves these words of praise. And even more!!!
Debut album was released on March 10, 2003 by Metal Mind Productions. It's follow up, "Evening Games", released in February 2005 reached no. 8 at the top100 best selling records in Poland.
At the beginning of June 2005 regular rehearsals started to make Satellite a real band not just Wojtek’s solo studio project. As the results on 22nd September 2005 Satellite recorded live DVD - "Evening Dreams" (2006).

2007 marks the return of Satellite. In March the band had a privilege to play at the famous Baja Prog Festival in Mexico and in November released third studio album entitled "Into The Night". In the meantime Satellite welcomed Jarek Michalski (bass) as a new band member.

In 2009 Satellite returns with a brand new offering – “Nostalgia”. As the band claims, it's their fourth and most mature offering. Most of the album was recorded in Wojtek Szadkowski’s home studio. He is also responsible for the music and lyrics for "Nostalgia". The music offered on the new album is a combination of the sound of the 70’s with the modern 21st century sound. The lyrics relate to each other in a loose manner - they're about coming to terms with the past, about the need for a change, starting anew, distancing oneself to one's own past. At the same time, ironically, the music on "Nostalgia" manifests a longing for the mood of the 70's and 80's.

"Nostalgia” - was released by Metal Mind Productions on 23rd February 2009 in Europe / 10th March 2009 in USA. The album is available in two formats: a standard CD and a digipak CD with two bonus tracks.

    2)
Hailing from Christchurch, NZ Satellite (named after the release of their 3rd album of the same name) started out with a vision to write relevant music that catered for (but was certainly not limited to) a youth audience for a local youth camp. Now after releasing 4 albums and numerous EP's Satellite's passion seems to be burning brighter still and they're always finding ways to stay relevant to those whom they're trying to speak to.

Their inviting and intense live show has showcased many stages including Parachute Festival, the Westpac Trust Centre (in Christchurch), the Get Smart Conference, as well as numerous festivals and events around New Zealand (including their stomping ground Eastercamp in Christchurch) playing to large crowd numbers wherever they go.

The Satellite collective has grown and changed in many ways since its initial conception, but that hasn't stopped any growth musically and spiritually... if anything it showcases the talent and passion that each musician (past and present) has to fulfill the Satellite vision. The current mixture of youth and experience has just finished their 5th album (Self-titled aka the Girl album) which was released at Eastercamp 2008!!!

Satellite is Steven McMorran, Mitch Allan, and Josh Dunahoo.

"There is no substitute for honesty in music. Every once in a while a song speaks to you; reminds you of how you really feel. We truly hope SATELLITE becomes a voice for the joy, heartache, beauty and truth of life." -Steven

When singer/songwriter Steven McMorran was invited to play at music producer Mitch Allan's Los Angeles-based "songwriter's night" in early 2009, a spark of inspiration was formed. A month later when Josh Dunahoo was added to the mix, SATELLITE was born. With influences ranging from Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon to Radiohead and Snow Patrol, SATELLITE is ready to make their impact on the music world. While the band thus far is known primarily for their raw and heartfelt live performances, SATELLITE aimed to deliver the same emotion and energy with their debut EP, RING THE BELLS.

    Label - Virgin

bPlease note, many Virgin issues also carry an EMI logo. This is not a label and EMI should not be added as a label, it instead indicates that Virgin was part of the EMI Group./b

    Multinational label.
    Label Code: LC 3098 / LC 03098
Started by a4812584 in the early 1970s as an independent label based in London, UK. The record company l26760 and subsidiaries which used the Virgin brand was sold to l118508 Plc on 1 June 1992, the various Virgin trademarks however remained the property of l326037, since 2012 the imprint has been licensed from l326037 and is used by various companies that form part of the l38404.

    The Virgin disc label designs/logos:

Roger Dean (4) was the designer of the original famous Virgin label with snakes and dragons.

For LP's following designs were used:
    1973-1974 white Roger Dean label
    1974-1976 coloured Roger Dean label
1975 fawn & mauve Roger Dean label (V2037 to V2044 and some older title reissues)
1975-1976 Red twin label with Outer White Ring
1975-1976 Green twin label with Outer White Ring
1976-1978 Green twin label (without outer white ring)
1976-1977 Red twin label (without outer white ring)
1977-1978 blue label with double Virgin writing logo (V2086 to ??)
    1978-1987 green/red alternative label (Side 1 / Side 2)
    1987-xxxx grey-white label

Probably the fawn & mauve Dean label should replace the coloured Dean label in summer 1975, but has been used only a very short time. The fawn & mauve Dean label hasn't been used outside UK.
Red and Green labels with white outer ring replaced the fawn & mauve Dean label. These can be found on several Virgin albums outside UK, It has been used in UK a very short time only.

The green twin label (without outer white ring) is easy to find. It has been used originally in 1976 but it is also available on reissues of older releases. In UK it has been used till 1978, but in other countries (Japan, Spain) there are records up to 1982 with this label. During this period a few titles were pressed with Red twin label (without outer white ring).

The blue label with double Virgin writing logo is well-known on single releases but it has also been used on a few albums.
The area of the green/red label ended in 1987 (UK), but in different countries it has been used longer (Spain 1990, Germany 1988).

The grey-white label is still in use since 1987 (UK). The grey-white label has been published some months later in foreign countries (1988).

For 7" releases following designs were used:
1974-1975 black-white Dean label / white Dean label
    1976 blue twin label
1976-1978 blue label with double Virgin writing logo
    1978-1987 green/red alternative label
    1987-xxx silver label

In some countries the white or the black-white Dean label was longer in use (Germany, 1977). Spain was the only country that used the coloured Dean label on singles (instead of the white or black-white Dean label).

The blue twin label (which has never been used for albums) was issued in UK only.

The blue label with double Virgin writing logo was used from 1976 until 1979 in the UK. In some countries it was longer in use (Spain, 1979).

On 12" only following designs exist:
    1978 - 1987 green/red alternative label
    1988 - xxxx grey-white label

    CD label designs:
Old CD's normally had a blue label (a kind of light blue layer on the silver disc) because the producers had problems with the printing on the blank silver surface.
Some of the middle-old editions have silver labels with red printing. Newer editions have black printings.
