I'm confused. What is this in response to? [EDIT:] Ahhh, it's in response to a reply from Mar a couple of pages back in this thread. Makes sense now.

I try to live life in its rawest form possible with as little distraction as possible. I guess the closest I've ever gotten to any sort of drug is Nyquil. I don't discriminate against people who do, this is just the way I've decided to live my life.

I used to know a Jedi who was like you. A proud man with principles, a true hermit with moral purity as his sole goal. But once I gave him a tape, and he got drawn to the dark side of the force, started to sniff glue and listen to Chaos UK. Be careful, the right path is a slippery one (you know, with my terrific tapes being around).

I JUST made a thread a second ago on this very board, I don't know this forum's etiquette but that's probably not a good thing... I apologize.
I happen to be wondering what you guys think of drugs. Is it encouraged, discouraged, ignored? More into stimulants, hallucinogens, whatever alcohol is classified as? I'm not a follower, whatever the 'official' response I get won't affect my stance, I'm just curious. Cheers!
EDIT: This was moved to this thread by a mod. Read the thread and got my answer. So... yeah.

personally, i partake in a wide variety of substance abuse. alcohol is a barbituate, like xanax and valium i don't do speed, mainly because i am violent enough without it. i didn't really care to read this entire forum before posting i found it a waste of time. i think drugs should be a person choice, if they can handle it responsibly, if they can't, well, they're better off dead anyway, the weak-willed have no place in our world.
although the rum is shitty, and the company too, life on the sea, is better than life with you

Long story short life sucked ass, i went into detox and 4 and a half months later and i havent done shit. hahahaha im basically sxe now except i smoke cigarettes like a mother fucker. but about other punk friends, most of them just drank, some did crystal, but i never meet a whole lot of opiate/H addicts in the scene here, there was a few though, but i wasnt close w them

The drugs cartel is certainly a part of this system.

What the fuck are you saying, are you a fascist or something?
No, he's not. He just doesn't want to take care of drug users, because it's their fault they ruined their live, not ours. I think everyone has been told not to use drugs at the age of 5. And besides, do you want to take care of them ? 'Normal' people don't need drugs to live and go through live. You should think before consuming.

What is this? Survival of the straight-edgest? Have you really thought this through? Some people do drugs to escape from reality because their reality sucks, you know, despair, poverty, misery, unemployment, violence, some chose to get away from it through drug-using. I know it is really, really bad because our mommies told us that drugs are bad. You seem to totally discard social conditions, as if they played no part in why people take drugs. Obviously, recreational use is another matter, though I suppose you could find sociological explanations as for why some people need to get smashed to have fun or even communicate with their peers in a party environment.

Yes and no. There's a film called Trainspotting, and it's basicaly about drug scene and some guy trying to get off drugs. It has inspired my friend in many ways ( don't get me wrong, he's not using drugs). We had debate on using drugs as escaping technique from reality, and I came to conclusion that drugs should never be answer for sorrow. I also claimed that there are 2 ways you can act, either escape reality or fight it. I, myself, would never try to escape it, but i'm also aware of the fact that many people find safety in drugs. At the end we came to an agreement, that people should learn how to control their reality and sadness. I'm also not talking about this without expirience. I''ve never tried drugs, but I've been drinking like a fish. It was my way of escaping some trouble I had in my personal life. And, I admitt that I have prejudice for drug users ( or I'm just acting overcritical), but I still think it's personal choice and I would never avoid hanging out with drug users. And, this may sound rough, I wouldn't devote my life to drug users and trying to help them but rather on helping them before they get in trouble, beacause as I said, I don't think drugs are answer. On the other hand however, I wasnt refering to this socitey, but another one where we could live without poverty and stuff you mentioned. But now I said my opinion on drug users in this society as well.

So you've watched a movie and you decided, from that, to not help junkies? Because why?

I said that ? Where ?
I explained why, but i never said I wouldn never help them. I said I would rather stop them from being drug users before they start using drugs.
