I hate how all movies and shows concerning a world with no government show "anarchist" militias and other power hungry fascist leaders turning people into slaves, looting their homes, killing them for fun etc., roughly translating to no government=no one to protect your "rights". I mean, even the fucking batman movies are like that. This guy takes shit too far sometimes, but I like reading hist articles http://boitempoeditorial.wordpress.com/ ... ght-rises/
But I think its pretty entertaining too. I`m glad at least the zombies can`t run, talk or climb walls(like most of the Romero remakes). I`ve never owned a tv, but after I moved back with my mom I watch it every now and then. Seems like its the only way to be with your family in her eyes, gathering around the tv..

Oh, I'm sorry, so it is about anarchy? I didn't know! Ok, I guess you can watch it then.
Someone once said, and I have to agree with him, slow moving zombies are a hell of a lot scarier than running ones.

haha nah, its not about anarchy. its a show based on a comic about the zombie apocalypse.

yeah, its just silly when they give them superpowers like in I am Legend or the remake of Day of the Dead where they start climbing the walls and shit like that. Theres even a vegetarian zombie in the remake.

A lot of movies/shows are just fucking state propaganda and/or patriotism. Just designed to make people afraid of what life would be like without the state's coercive control. "But human nature wawawawa" I hate that shit. There's no such thing as fucking human nature. Also it's been shown time and time again (natural disasters) that people within state function way better without its coercive presence. And yeah the new batman is ridiculous. All those tattered American flags blowing in the wind while the pigs bravely go off to fight some paramilitary force with superior firepower and two tanks. And they win?! In hand to hand combat?! Fucking bullshit.

Also I can't stand the Walking Dead, the show or the books. Fucking protagonist is some all around great guy cop who still maintains a monopoly on violence even after the apocalypse. Fits the archetype perfectly. Everyone respects him as an authority figure even as he randomly kills people they come across. Not a show about state society's collapse. It's still there, just smaller. Heard he finally killed the other cop though. And he's even worse in the books.

Secondly it makes no goddamn sense. If they found out zombie blood will cover their scent to zombies in the second episode, why don't they carry buckets of it everywhere they go?

That is so true on both points you made. But I believe there is such a thing as human nature, and you've said it:
People are naturally inclined to stick together and help one another in a (natural disaster).

Yeah, they all follow the same plot. You can justify any war or any crime with a love story, its pathetic. The worst part is that many think they`re realistic.

Haha, he gets on my nerves too. And yes, he kills the other cop in the end of the second season or something. It gets even better in the third season, they show this "commune", lead by a governor of course, that goes off and kills anyone he considers a threat to his city. Because thats whats gonna happen when shit goes down ya`ll, we`re gonna start killing each other because there are no cops to keep us from doing it.
There are lots of things that don`t make sense, like why all the women are shaved and have makeup on, or how someone can crush a human skull just by stepping on it.

Oh this reminded me of this scene, haha

    Man, I fucking love T.V.
I watch Simpsons, all the cartoons on or were on FOX. Sunny in Philadelphia, Adventure Time, Regular Show. Ya, old 90's cartoons, Daily Show. Just a bunch of shiz. I don't watch shitty "reality T.V. shows", that's just complete shit. But.... T.V. is fun to watch. And ya commercials are shit and blah blah blah commercialism and what not. But I just don't really pay attention to them.

You can watch all those shows on the web too though. Its not that much about commercialism, but the fact that its a big time stealer. The more tv I watch the less I want to do anything else.
ts supposed to be fun to watch! My therapist recommended watching tv to patients with anxiety problems, that says a lot.
There has been done research on the physical effects of tv, turns out that your body spends less energy when you watch tv than when you lie in bed, which is pretty interesting. I`m not sure how far they got with that though(link). Its not a big difference, but its there.
Either way its better to read up on things than watch them, you`re more likely to remember something you`ve read or done than something you`ve heard(auditive memory is crap).

Well, they ARE Australia's cutest freaks of nature! :D

    But...........

Getting back to the original subject of this thread............

I am an elderly care taker for my sick and aged 79 year old mother, so the telly is on all the time.

Mostly she just keeps on the classical music channel for background noise, but we both enjoy watching certain game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, plus a few British and Australian murder mysteries like Death in Paradise (GREAT Music soundtrack for fans of old school Ska and roots rock reggae) and Miss Fischer's Murder Mysteries. Also shows that, if you'll pardon the expression, caters to foodies like myself. (Andrew Zimmern, Anthony Bourdaine, shows about unusual restaurants, and local eateries, and yes, even Triple D every once in a while)

My mother still enjoys Spongebob even though I think they went down hill in 2004, but she seems to like Bob's Burgers every now and then. (Still hasn't warmed up to Archer, though)

The Daily Show and re-runs of Perry Mason is a nightly ritual in my house.

There are many more shows that I watch with my mother, but i don't want to dominate the thread.

Heh, lately I've been watching a lot of "Impractical Jokers". All in all it's probably one of the funniest reality-style comedies out there. Anyone else watch it?

Also, what do you guys think of shows like Family Guy or American Dad? They're not exactly PC but I guess that's part of what makes them funny. Any and all opinions are welcome! Any recommendations are also welcome.
