Discuss anarcho-punk music and music in general, the punk & skinhead movements and the scene, your favorite bands and albums, etc...

I'm a new member to Anarcho-Punk.net (but I've often frequented it) and I'm a Anarcho-Communist skinhead living in Leavenworth, Kansas, USA. Enough about me. My real question is about music: I'm very against neo-nazi boneheads, and right-wing music and skinheads in general, and I'm usually very careful not to listen to neo-nazi punk (although I mus admit Skrewdriver's first album is pretty good). I bought a copy of Battle Scarred Skinheads by Antisocial a while back, and I enjoyed the shit out of it. But when I first found it I couldn't find anything about their political ideology (or much about them period) online, and I'm worried they might be right of centre... Anyone got any help for me? I was also wondering about the 4 Skins and Section 5, I've heard they are both sympathizers, but it all seems pretty ambiguous still. Anything y'all can help me with would be appreciated. Thanks! Ben

It's like another world to me man... I hear you though. It was the same thing for me with Bone Awl, who are not at all racist. As well as I guess Drudkh, who are not supportive of any ideology but are rather nationalistic, but it's an easten bloc country (Ukraine) so who knows what that even means? There is more context to it, but I don't care they make alright music, very accessible atmospheric BM. Then there is Burzum... Fuck you, I am keeping Filosofem and Hvis Lyset Tar Oss... fuck Varg though. Even Kevin Tucker disagrees with me on this point, but c'mon man the message and the messenger and the music. Ha,ha,ha.

Welcome to APN AS for Antisocial, I think it was like most OI at the time: English patriotic, probably a bit sexist, most probably homophobic, but not that RAC shit. They played with The Adicts, so I doubt they were dodgy. As for The 4-Skins, I have heard conflicting views about Gary Hodges lately... I was pissed off at first. Now I am left wondering what the fuck??!! As for Section 5 from what I can tell those guys are on the level. If ya want add me as a friend... Stay in touch

Thanks Skinhooligan, I feel I can be at ease a little more now. That Antisocial record is badass, and since I'm a man of principal I'd hate to have to give it up. Glad to hear about Section 5 too, I'm looking at buying some of their stuff.

well i was in elementary school at the time, so i didn't even know what punk or skinhead was (as far as i knew, a mohawk was just the hairstyle that bebop or rocksteady had on ninja turtles)

That's quite humorous. I hear ya though. Well it's a pretty drab conservative small town but it's home, I can't bitch. The closest 'scene' is Lawrence and it's mostly just hipster assholes.
