I live in the northern part of San Diego county and there isn't much in the way of anything anymore. A few years ago their were always shows with local old school hardcore bands or sometimes metal bands but now there's nothing. I don't really know what it's like in the City. The only crust band I've heard of from San Diego is Age of Collapse.

its dead here also..in North Carolina. haha. the only decent venue is the milestone. Everybodys like punk?? oh you mean greenday!! no. As soon as i'm 18 im leaving this shithole for Los Angeles (Trying to finish school), Im hoping it'll be more lively than this.Because I still have faith that there are others who feel the same. Everybodys into indie it seems, which i cant stand. It definetly seems like the UK gets the best shows lately.I want to experience a great show before i get old.urghh.

The Metaphor puts on a shitload of shows in the North County.......????
I always forget about that place. I never remember to check to see upcoming shows.

i live in Califorina around the Inland Empire - really just Murrieta and Temecula. the scene is great i mean you have these 2 venues that seems like they will never go away so bands are always on the go. the two cons i have is that no one slams but only circle pit then most punks who are like 22 and over think they're all that. "we started the scene!" "you guys are the definition of posers" well these guys are a bunch of elitists. they don't seem to give the new local music rising a chance but whatever. they're in their own little world =/ - just unnecessary hate it seems

Here in Recife, Brazil there are some shows and gigs... in 2010 we had one almost evrey week.
Think it's great? Not, definitely not... The only band that have a self claimed political posture its a redsink one... (Subverssivos) we had some anarcho punks till 5 or 6 years ago(Fogo Morto [Dead Fire], Hidrofobia, Rabujos[ according tho the google translator is fiddle-faddle, the name means wounds on the skin of dogs that here in brazil is a slag for something without quality]) nowdays only Rabujos stll exist and had become something like a sellout grindcore band (i still their fan and maybe become their bass player) some members of these bands now are involve with local folk music or noisecore or indierock. We have one kid or another in the scene that have some good ideias, or know something about anarchism, comunism or the world thar is arround him... but the most of the bands and kids don't have some political view.
There are some raw punks that i dont have mutch contact at the west zone, their crew have a D-Beat band called Gerra Urbana (urban war) they dont make mutch more than pichar some walls (a brazilian way of grafitti) And some old punks that hide in some place no one knows.
The city is basicaly full of place for local folk music, indie rock, reggae, and eletronic music. There is only one place that focus on metal, and the owner dont like punks... so the most of the gigs are at places made for other public, organized by people that don't have a political posture, where most of the bands play reproducing the comon sense or talking bulsshit... i've tons of friends at these shows and love them. Now and then there is a show of something like D.R.I

We've been putting on a ton of shows at the Che. They are all reasonably priced. Anywhere from $5 - $8. You should keep an eye on the Che Blog. We're doing 2 - 3 hardcore shows there a month, and attendance has definitely been down. It would be nice to see that place go off again. It's pretty close to North County. Otherwise, there are a lot of shows down south at the Park Gallery or Stein House. Definitely worth the trip.

I concur. I've been to a number of house shows here in SD, and they often do get pretty packed. Great shows as well. The scene is good. I go to L.A. mostly for shows though. They have a good scene there too.

I'm not sure whether there is a punk scene here in Devon or not, I haven't lived here for very long. But up in Northampton, which is my hometown and the place I intend to move back to, there is a very VERY small punk scene. The Northampton punk scene is made up of two separate scenes that occasionally collide. One is what I like to call the Kooky scene (most of the bands who are part of it are on Northampton-based label, Kooky Records) which is made up of bands like Anguish Sandwich (or Winston Echo), The Retro Spankees etc. Durutti Column are also on Kooky Records, but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, the other half of the scene is made up of Thrash Metal and crossover thrash bands, though that part of the scene is dying out, what with alot of the crossover bands moving into Djent and progressive metal. Its really being kept alive now by Valhalla and Sacred Mother Tongue (though SMT have all but abandoned Northampton now).

I'll definitley check out what's going on at Che. I just heard about a Age of Collapse about a month ago from this crusty my girlfriend knows while she crashed at our apartment one night. She had an Ago of Collapse back patch or shirt so i checked you guys out. It was pretty good.

Wasn't punk dead back in the eighties early nineties? At least that is when it evolved for me, I have a job now, I don't squat, own a house now, but still feel the same way. If there are shows around here it's rare about once a month, but I can't go because i work all weekends and holidays. Rarely see punks hanging out downtown and I am downtown a lot. I'm just old punk who has lost touch.

It happens to many people, you get older 'n need to pay the bills... but you might find a way to get in touch again. Maybe this was a start, lol.

San Antonio, Texas. Punks can be found about 1 in every 5000 here. I got most of my friends into it, but then again you can only go so far on other peoples influence. There is a few Punk/Anarcho/Street Punk bands That come and go here. I usualy go to The Korova, Where lots of Crust bands/Skin head/Hardcore plays. The scene is about the same as it used to be. Just a little weaker.

But the one thing I absolutely HATE is how much bullshit, the punk bands' lyrics are. What with the "Oi! Oi! Oi!, Lets get drunk off 40oz.'s and break shit!" The punk scene has some of the most close and absent minded, more-punker-than-thou-poseurs-who-fail-at-everything-they-try, violent, drunk shits.[/quote]
this is true as shit

Texas scene isn't that well to tell the truth. I was thinking about moving to Denver, but if this is true I'm seriously going to consider it.

we could be doing better, but with a small community in sd we're doing pretty alright i think; see ya tomorrow papa oso
We stood still; for the first time did we know fear, and then pain. And we stood still that we might not spill this pain more precious than pleasure.

I've been in Indiana for some years: there's a folk punk scene in Bloomington that is cool but sometimes resembles a christian youth group (not that they're christian). Indianapolis punks are in a kind of cycle of abuse... they're cliquish bro-down assholes most of the time, but you have to understand that THEY HAD TO GROW UP IN INDIANA! That does something to you, psychologically...
I'm in San Diego visiting my brother for a few weeks. I'm really bummed because y'all keep talking about how great the scene is but i'm having trouble getting a show on short notice. I play solo acoustic grindcore with foot percussion; it reeks of anarchist mischief!
Hit me up with an offer or i'll come to your show and rip it outside anyway.
