How was that statement sexist? saynig blow me is sexist i think , what if a girl was reading this , or even a guy , why should someone tell someone to blow them because they like a shitty ass band ???? fuck that
Pretty much. Regardless of sex, it's fucked up that people, anarchists even, think that's fine to say. More generally speaking, it doesn't help with sexual repression when sexual acts are constantly put in the context of malice and social domination.

Sex is sex, speech is speech. One of the Dutch swear words is 'kanker', which can translate to 'fuck' or 'fucking'. Both uses of the word are distinct different uses. Kanker = cancer. I do not see how saying 'blow me' as an exclamation of rebellion equals the act of oral sex in a literal way.

Hah. I'm gonna have to agree with Rathryn on this one. I would hope that any one reading this thread would be strong enough not to take a NOFX fan yealling "Blow me!" seriously... In fact I've never understood these "saying anything related to sex is sexist" positions. If I am able to say "I'd certainly like to kill that man." I should be allowed to say "I'd certainly like to fuck that woman." without fear of being arbitrarily labeled sexist...

What I mean by strong is that if your seriously offended by someone saying "blow me" in a manner that is evdently not serious then you need to check yourself. That level of sensitivity is just silly. In fact I'd say that it's so silly that anyone who subscribes to it can LICK MY TAINT.

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah.... I've state my opinion. There is nothing macho, manly or sexist about it. People who are THAT easily offended need a reality check. End of story. I'm not anti-pc. In fact if you looked into the things I've said on this website you'd find that I'm more PC than not. But I am against PC extremism. I'm not macho emotionless or against sensitivity. But I don't care who you are....if your THAT easily offended than I have absolutely no plans of committing myself to any lame ass form of self censorship that will satisfy you. "Blow me" doesn't offend me one bit and I have no idea how anyone could be offended by it.

'Fuck you' isn't imperative. Hell, is there even a verb in that? dwtcos wrote:Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah.... I've state my opinion. There is nothing macho, manly or sexist about it. LOL@Blah blah blah blah blah. As if I posted a wall of text. I'm not telling anyone what they can and can't say. I'm saying that it SHOULDN'T be said, given social context. Anyway, I don't care to communicate with you anymore. Have a great day.

Was referring to you, actually. You yourself mentioned context in the case of the use of the word kanker in Dutch, but disregard said context in English, so it seems.

"Miserabalist"? WTF is that supposed to mean? I didn't disregard anything. Consensual sex itself shouldn't be controversial at all. It's the social context. Like I said, while sex continues to be put in the context of malice and social domination, society will remain sexually repressive. While we're on context, why would anyone say that phrase in the context it was said? Why would it be presented with intention to offend? Would it regularly be said in the context of an insult, had it no real potential to offend? Why might one find it offensive in that context?

I'm too pissed to be a folksinger I'm not a punk but that's where I'm coming from I'm not too into music but I got so much of it inside I'm not a drunk aggressive idiot And I used to believe in punk I thought it might offer something new but punk ripped me off cheated me out of something close to me I'm trying to move along but some roots reach pretty far down I'm interested in politics and action In trying to create something that's not I feel like I'm in the middle of everything There is no niche for me And I believe in anarchy in trying to live autonomously I try not to walk my talk but to talk my walk - $ETH!

...the legend goes, that couples that were having children were required to first obtain royal permission (usually from a local magistrate or lord) and then place a sign somewhere visible from the road in their home that said "Fornicating Under Consent of King", which was later shortened to "FUCK". This story is hard to document but has persisted in oral and literary traditions for many years; however, it has been demonstrated to be an urban legend. The word "fuck" did not come from any of: * "File Under Carnal Knowledge" * "Fornication Under the Christian King" * "Fornication Under the Command of the King" * "Fornication Under Carnal/Cardinal Knowledge" * "False Use of Carnal Knowledge" * "Felonious Use of Carnal Knowledge" * "Felonious Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" * "Full-On Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" * "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" * "Found Under Carnal Knowledge" * "Found Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" * "Forced Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" (referring to the crime of rape) The Oxford English Dictionary states that the ultimate etymology is uncertain, but that the word is "probably cognate" with a number of native Germanic words with meanings involving striking, rubbing, and having sex. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuck
