    Ultra-Violent Biography

    WEBSITE
Formed in January 1982 in Hebden Bridge from the remains of two bands: 'Delinquent' and 'Dreaded Cult'. They recorded their first demo tape in a small Halifax studio in April 1982 and a second at [l264408] in Rochdale which resulted in a deal with Riot City Records. They played around 20 gigs in Manchester, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Keighley, Burnley, Rochdale and Hebden Bridge.

Band members: Ade Bailey (2), Duf, Grif (2), Jaz (25)
    ---

Formed in January '82, in Hebden Bridge just outside Halifax, guitarist Andrew 'Grif' Griffiths and vocalist Adrian 'Adie' Bailey had previously been in Delinquent, whilst bassist Duf and drummer Jas were with Dreaded Cult. The first Ultra Violent demo was a very basic affair recorded in Halifax during April '82.
It failed to generate any interest from labels. However the band played many shows around West Yorkshire that summer and developed into a frighteningly powerful and focused act, an impressive evolution that was showcased to perfection with the storming recording Ultra Violent made at Rochdale's Cargo Studios during November 1982. Four songs were commited to tape. The first three of which appeared on the 1983 Riot City EP 'Crime For Revenge'.
Even on a label renowned for its fast and furious roster, it remains one of the most intense, scatching releases, a true powerhouse of a single.
Disbanded before their planned 2nd single. Adie went on to front 'English Dogs' and debuted on their 'To The Ends Of The Earth' LP in 1984.
